BenQ Materials is committed to reducing the impact on the environment at all stages of the life cycle of products —from raw materials, manufacturing, storage, transportation, and use to disposal —and fully implements responsible means of achieving production with zero waste through materials reduction and recycling.

The management of our waste output in 2021 can be classified into seven main categories, totaling 14,607.58 tons, of which 11,030.50 tons can be recycled and reused (accounting for 75.51%). Since 2017, the recyclable and reusable volume of waste has accumulatedto 49,217.29 tons. Waste disposal and handling fees in 2021 were approximately NT$46.12 million, accounting for 0.28% of revenue. The intensity of direct waste disposal (excluding recycling) in 2021 (weight of directly disposed waste/NT$ million in revenue) was 0.28.

In 2021, the total weight of waste removed and transported to outsourced waste treatment manufacturers was 3,577.09 tons, an increase of 0.12% over 2020. In light of revenue growth of 9.51%, the reduction in waste disposal was meaningful. The types of disposal were mainly physical treatment and recycling for waste treatment. In 2021, hazardous waste accounted for 11.17% of all directly disposed waste, an increase of 7% compared to 2020. This was mainly due to the Yunlin factory joining the third manufacturingplant, which produces about 390 tons of release paper per year, increasing the amount of waste in 2021 vs. 2020.
