BenQ Materials was founded in 1998 as a manufacturer of high-quality, high-capacity optical storage discs. We have since evolved to develop cutting-edge materials science technologies that power innovative products for a wide range of industries. Today, BenQ Materials is a global leader in display materials solutions, both in the capacity of a materials supplier and as a proprietary brands operator. Proprietary materials science R&D and a commitment to sustainability form the cornerstone of our approach to product development. Headquartered in the Guishan District of Taoyuan City, we have three production sites in Taiwan located in Taoyuan, Longtan and Yunlin, and two locations in Suzhou and Wuhu in China. Executive Profiles
Z.C. Chen
Prior to his appointment as Chairman of BenQ Materials in October 2013, Dr. Chen was the Executive Vice President of Darfon Electronics Corp. During his tenure at Darfon, he was assigned various positions responsible for the components business, global manufacturing, new technologies and new business development. Before joining Darfon Electronics (BenQ Group) in 1997, he served as Research Scientist and Product Development Manager at Philips Germany and Philips Taiwan. Dr. Chen is also known for his scientific contribution in piezoelectric and dielectric ceramics with published papers and patents.
Ray Liu
Mr. Liu joined BenQ Materials in 1998 and has served in several key positions, including Senior Manager in the CD-ROM R&D Department, Factory Director, and Associate Vice President in 2005 and 2006.
Mr. Liu was promoted to President in 2017 and has been in charge of the Functional Film Business Group.
Oliver Liu
After joining BenQ Materials in 1997, he served as a CD-ROM R&D Senior Manager in 2001, the Director of the Polarizer Plant, and Associate Vice President in 2005. Subsequently, Mr. Liu led the R&D team, covering optical storage technology to today’s R&D and application of polarizing films in creating the company’s independent research and development capabilities.
A promotion followed in 2009 when, as the Vice President of the Advanced Tech. R&D Center, he took charge of all future products and technology research.
Charles Liu
Mr. Liu joined BenQ Materials in 2015 as Vice President and Chief Manufacturing Officer to coordinate global manufacturing operations and drive manufacturing technology enhancements and process improvements in each business unit.
Prior to joining BenQ Materials, Mr. Liu gained extensive industry expertise at Sumika Technology, Nexgen Mediatech, and Philips Taiwan.
