BenQ Materials to Reveal the Innovative PNLC at Touch Taiwan 2017
September 22, 2017
BenQ Materials, a leading optical component manufacturer, introduces PNLC (Polymer Network Liquid Crystal) at Touch Taiwan 2017. PNLC is a reverse type compared to PDLC (Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal) and there is no commercialized product in the world yet. It’s new and enables the privacy and energy-saving as well.
“We saw the needs for privacy but also noticed the users’ concerns and worries. Users appreciate the privacy function that PDLC offers but they don’t want the power consumption. To make users’ dream come true, our RD team try hard to come up with PNLC, which have power on only when the privacy function needed. ”said Dr. Robert Wu, associate vice president of BenQ Materials.
PNLC is an innovation and breakthrough. It can see-through when power off, and when power on, it turns out to be opaque which enables privacy. This unique design will increase its diverse applications in our life, such as office, home decoration, or even automotive applications. Better yet, it saves 50% of power, compared to PDLC applications. It’s a smart and eco-friendly innovation.
PNLC is not only power-saving, but also safer due to the less than 24 volts operation. PNLC is provided with the film type, which means it’s flexible in size and highly customizable. It’s an ideal solution for decoration as well as intelligent automotive glass applications.
